Help me cover the cost of knee surgery

Hello,
My name is Jihmmy Sanchez. I'm a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
On August 5th, I was walking my dogs with my sister at the park when I tripped over some uneven pavement and tree roots and tore my patellar tendon and dislocated my left knee cap. I ended up going to the ER and was discharged shortly. It was at the ER that I became unaware that I was uninsured for the summer. Finding out I was uninsured was a surprise to me because I pay a hefty fee every academic year for health insurance through UIC's CampusCare program. It was only after sustaining this injury that I found out that UIC automatically unenrolls students during the summer from coverage if they are not taking six credits, but also, automatically enroll students during the academic year.
Because I was uninsured, scheduling an orthopedic surgery to repair the torn tendons has been challenging and taken longer than expected. After many trials and errors, I have been able to schedule orthopedic surgery on August 17th, 12 days after the initial injury. The tricky thing now is paying for the cost of the operation, the MRI's and consult I needed to confirm a torn tendon and the initial ER visit. My family is currently pooling together Credit Cards to cover these expenses, but I would love to use the funds from this fundraiser to repay them for the costs they are accruing. I do not want one accident to financially ruin my family, the ones who have been there for me throughout the many ups and downs that graduate school and the pandemic have brought on me.
Any help would be super appreciated.
