Help Me Defeat the Final Boss of Gender
Donation protected
Hello!
After years on a waiting list, I finally got a consultation for my last gender-affirming surgery, as well as a surgery date in March of this year. My insurance has also approved the prior authorization already, which is great news.
However, I have what is called 90/10 "coinsurance" when it comes to surgery, which means that until my deductible is maxed out, I pay for 10% of any surgery I get, even if that procedure is covered. Since it's the beginning of the year, my deductible is nowhere near maxed out.
I found this out with my last surgery, which I had been told by the hospital would cost me zero dollars, only to be ambushed by a charge for thousands of dollars more than a year later, and paying that off cut significantly into my savings for this procedure. I'm really hoping to avoid that a second time.
So I asked my surgeon to give me an estimate of what the coinsurance cost would be, and this is the number she came up with (it might be more, but it won't be less). I'm lucky enough to have a job that will let me take off several weeks for recovery, but if I can do that without choking on debt, that would be great :')
Any aid or boosting is deeply appreciated. After years of waiting, I'm excited to finally be at the end of my surgical transition.
