Me llamo Joy. Estoy muy emocionada por mi programa de 7 semanas para aprender español en Salamanca, España.

Hello friends,

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be starting a 7-week Spanish language program in Salamanca, Spain, in about two months! Learning Spanish has been a passion of mine for over a year—I’ve been studying consistently using Duolingo—and now I have the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the language and culture I’ve come to love.

My design journey has always been deeply connected to art, culture, and history. Growing up in a cultural city, I was surrounded by rich traditions and creativity, which inspired me from a young age. During my school internship, I worked with a community development association, contributing to design projects in rural areas and helping bring creative solutions to underrepresented communities. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Design and a master’s in Art and Design from Taiwan, and I’m currently pursuing my second master’s degree in Interaction & UI/UX Design at the Academy of Art University in the U.S., which I’ll complete by the end of this year!

This study trip is not just about learning a language—it’s about deepening my connection to Europe's rich history and art. I’ve long been inspired by iconic works, particularly Gaudí’s Sagrada Família, and I can’t wait to experience firsthand the cultural and artistic achievements that have influenced so much of my own design journey.

I’ll spend the first month at a prestigious university in Salamanca, focusing on Spanish grammar and structure, and then continue at another local language school to improve my communication skills. Afterward, I plan to travel across Spain and neighboring countries, soaking in Europe’s art, architecture, and cultural heritage.

This trip is also a much-needed break for me, following 5 years of living in the U.S., becoming a citizen, and navigating personal and family challenges. Before transitioning into my next career move, I’m taking this time to recharge, reflect, and gain new perspectives.
