December was pretty rough, and it's not over yet. The medical staff told me I almost died if I had waited one more day to go to the emergency room. (My hernia had "strangulated" my upper bowel. I ended up staying in the hospital for over two weeks. I'm home now, but my brain seems affected by the various drugs they used on me while operating.
March 18 update: Unfortunately, since then I've gotten worse, not better. My right hand is sore -up to the shoulder. I can hardly use it. Typing is easier than writing though. The doctor thinks it's osteoarthritis.
Besides that, while I was in the hospital, they did a biopsy and determined I have cancer. I do have an appointment in two weeks to go to Optum Cancer Center for testing and to learn more. Do you ever have the feeling that your whole body is falling apart? (Remember that song by Rosemary Clooney in the 1950's? "This Old House"?)
P.S. Ironically, I had cancer of the knee bone in 1959 when I was 16, and to save my life, the doctor amputated my entire left leg. Because I was so young, I "bounced back" relatively quickly, learned to walk on an artificial limb, etc. However, emotionally, as far as self-esteem, I was definitely not in great shape. That's a whole other story
Anyway, as usual, I'm grateful for my adult son, Freddy who has his own medical issues, but he does take good care of me. I wouldn't be able to stay in my apartment, if it were not for him. Also so grateful for ALL OF YOU. Those who have donated to my GoFundMe before and have simply been true supportive friends over the years- mainly on my social media of choice: Facebook and YouTube. I would be lost without you. So THANK YOU.
P.S. Again - I chose my profile picture mainly because it represents the good old days. I was 12, my sister, Cheryl was 10 and our Taffy was 11. This was at Hill AFB, Utah.
