Help Me Fight Cancer: You Could Help Save My Life

Han pasado más de tres años desde que recibí la devastadora noticia de que me habían diagnosticado cáncer de colon en etapa 4. En ese momento, comencé un tratamiento intensivo de quimioterapia para tratar de detener el progreso de la enfermedad. My name is Jose Gomez, and I'm reaching out to you today because I need help in my battle against cancer. It's been over three years since I received the devastating news that I had been diagnosed with Colon Cancer stage 4. At the time, I started an aggressive course of chemotherapy to try and slow down or stop the progress of the disease. Unfortunately, after undergoing an ileostomy procedure, a life-threatening infection developed, and more complications followed, which limited my ability to receive treatment for a significant amount of time.

To make matters worse, cancer eventually spread beyond my colon and into other parts of my body, including my liver. The only option available to me was a major surgical operation where surgeons removed 85% of my right liver to contain it.

I ended up losing both my job and health insurance coverage shortly thereafter. Without insurance coverage, I found myself discharged from the hospital that had treated me since the beginning and without access to proper medical care or treatment for such a severe condition. Over time, without access to regular treatments or monitoring, things have gotten worse as cancer has continued to spread throughout my body and even now causes me extreme pain regularly.

At the moment, in addition to cancer spreading even more, the most worrisome problem is the intense pain I experience in my right leg, which may be related to an infection caused by the spread of cancer cells to my spine or brain. Tests are currently being done to determine this, but either way, it has greatly reduced my mobility and makes even everyday tasks extremely challenging. Additionally, I have needed to use a catheter through my urethra which needs to be changed every three months - another significant challenge due to its physical discomfort. The swelling of both feet has also made it very hard for me to move around without assistance from someone else. Sometimes even small movements such as writing become difficult because my hands shake uncontrollably due to possible nerve damage. In all of this, my 73-year-old loving but aging mother helps me as much as she can.

I am writing this GoFundMe campaign in search of financial assistance so that I can receive the medical care and treatments needed - before it's too late. The funds raised would go towards covering costs related to potential surgeries, radiation treatments, chemotherapy sessions, medications, doctor visits, and lab tests among other necessary items related to fighting this battle against cancer, including paying for rent and food, so that hopefully one day soon we can find some relief from this situation once again.
