Hello, I am Carla. I am fifteen years old.

I have been dancing for as long as I can remember.

Inside my mom’s belly, in the crib as a baby, at home as a toddler, and at my first ballet studio when I was three years old.

At the age of eight, swaying my arms as wings during a performance, I realized I wanted to keep dancing for the rest of my life.

And so I did.

During the pandemic, when we were all locked in our homes, a window opened to the outside world. I discovered the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and it instantly became my dream school and company.

I was born in New York, and my family moved to Mallorca, Spain, when I was little. American Ballet Theatre IS New York. It mirrors the city: its energy, boldness, diversity, creativity, artistry, the pure joy of living and dancing. ABT is not just a ballet company, it is a reflection of New York’s essence, where everything is possible. I felt like I was home again.

For four years I have attended their Summer Intensives. They even made me an offer to study at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis school year round. But back then I was only fourteen, too young to move to the city by myself. It was not the time. Yet.

Instead, I moved to Madrid to grow as a dancer and as a person, training hard at Mariemma, the Royal Conservatory of Professional Dance, with one goal in mind: ABT.

Two years later, I feel ready. And the opportunity has been there waiting for me. I auditioned and was accepted at the ABT JKO School for the 2025-2026 school year. I have no words to express my gratitude; I do so through dance.

I took my first ballet steps as a baby in New York, and it’s there that I aspire to take my first steps as a professional ballerina.

The journey has just begun. Please help me to keep dancing and dreaming, and come along with me for the ride.

Hola, soy Carla. Tengo 15 años.

Llevo bailando desde que tengo uso de razón.

Dentro de la barriga de mi madre, en la cuna cuando era un bebé, en casa de pequeña y en mi primer estudio de ballet desde los tres años.

A los ocho, moviendo los brazos como alas durante una actuación, me di cuenta de que quería seguir bailando el resto de mi vida.

Y así ha sido.

Durante la pandemia, encerrados en casa, se abrió una ventana al mundo exterior. A través de Internet descubrí el American Ballet Theatre (ABT) y al instante se convirtió en la escuela y compañía de mis sueños.

Nací en Nueva York y mi familia se trasladó a Mallorca, España, siendo aún pequeña. El American Ballet Theatre ES Nueva York. Un espejo de la ciudad: su energía, fuerza, diversidad, creatividad, arte, la pura alegría de vivir y bailar. ABT es más que una compañía de ballet, es un reflejo de la esencia de Nueva York, donde todo es posible. Me sentí en casa de nuevo.

Durante cuatro años he asistido a sus Intensivos de Verano. Incluso me ofrecieron la posibilidad de estudiar todo el año en la escuela American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. Pero sólo tenía catorce años, demasiado joven para mudarme sola a la ciudad. No era el momento. Aun.

Entonces me mudé a Madrid para seguir creciendo como bailarina y como persona, entrenando duro en el Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma, con un objetivo en mente: ABT.

Dos años después, me siento preparada. Y la oportunidad ha estado ahí esperándome. Hice una audición y me han aceptado en la ABT JKO School para el curso 2025-2026. No tengo palabras para expresar mi gratitud; lo hago a través de la danza.

Di mis primeros pasos de ballet siendo un bebé en Nueva York y es allí donde aspiro a dar mis primeros pasos como bailarina profesional.

El viaje no ha hecho más que empezar. Ayúdame a seguir bailando y soñando y acompáñame en este camino.

Ahora más que nunca, el mundo necesita arte, belleza y esperanza.
