Help Me Cover Surgery and Medical Expenses

Update: I got discharged in August with a PICC line for IV antibiotic and for the most part it has been working. It was also discovered that I was severely anemic and malnourished AGAIN. And for an open wound, it’s important for me to be eating and getting all the vitamins and minerals along with having a high protein diet. Also, there’s a few specialists that I was already told to see that I couldn’t go to because I couldn’t afford to, I was told to keep up with them along with some new specialists that was discovered I needed. There’s one in particular that I need to keep up with and he’s definitely helped out a lot. I’ve managed to reach a good point in this open wound journey and i would like to continue to move in this positive direction. So, any help you can offer so I can continue to pay for doctor appointments, meds, transportation, and food would be greatly appreciated!
Hi everyone, I am asking for your help because of the wound of my head. It’s been opening up for one reason or another since the fire accident I was in at the age of 6 (in 1999). I sustained about 40% third/fourth degree burns. I had surgery in September and we thought things were looking good before it began to reopen and get infected. I got hospitalized in November where they ran a bunch of tests and they found out I wasn’t just anemic and low on iron but low on many other vitamins and minerals, labeling me as malnourished. I just recently got discharged from the hospital on January 21st. I was admitted on January 10th when I went into the clinic after starting to have fevers again for a week and they noticed the wound on my scalp had gotten much bigger, deeper along with the green ooze had returned as well. They kept me for IV antibiotics for a few days and then on January 14 they took me in for surgery where they debrided the wound, took some biopsies, placed this substitute skin called Kerecis (it’s made out of fish skin), then placed a wound vac. So far they’ve changed the dressing twice and both times they’ve measured the wound and both times the wound has measured smaller than it originally was prior to me being admitted. The plan is to keep using the wound vac until the wound completely heals or long enough until it’s decided that I need a skin graft surgery. My doctor is unclear if that will be required or not just yet since the wound is too big—he’s just not sure if it’s actually capable of closing on its own or not but said it’s too soon to know for sure. Furthermore, I need to keep up with my medications to get rid of the infection and keep it suppressed. I need to get my iron levels up by having frequent iron transfusions plus take iron tablets. Another thing is I need to see certain specialists that will hopefully be able to give us an answer, and more importantly treatment options, as to why I’m constantly anemic to the point I’ve had to receive multiple blood transfusions on top of the iron infusions to hopefully prevent skin breakdown and wound healing prevention that this causes. Lastly, I need to eat properly which you’d think is the one thing I shouldn’t have to ask anyone for help with. But, unfortunately, my father thinks us buying food is a waste of money. So, my siblings and I are unable to actually buy us a decent quantity of food and certain food groups, such as fruit, are off the table. The past few years have been rough. Between the pain, constant doctor’s appointments (planned and unplanned), and being admitted to the hospital repeatedly. Don’t even mention the muscle graft surgery which is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I am trying to get back to doing things I love which is cook, do artwork, puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. I desperately want to get back to my life being lived and not spent on the hospital or unable to enjoy my time because I’m in too much pain, exhausted, stressed, etc. Hence, why I’m asking for you to help me, whether it’s to pass my fundraiser along to your family and friends, or to donate yourself. My family is financially unable to help—they’ve done all they can. Therefore, any help you can offer, big or small, would be greatly appreciated!
