Climate Album 2024 Fundraiser

Donation protected

Hi, I'm Louise, I'm 25 and I'm a climate activist/singer-songwriter.

If you don't know me, I've been arrested 5 times for taking non-violent direct action with Just Stop Oil, to demand an end to all new oil and gas licences from the UK government - in order to secure us all a liveable future. It's what all the climate scientists are screaming for, but they are being ignored.

I've even been to prison, following climbing a gantry over the M25 - you may have seen my viral testimony crying up the gantry, saying "I'm here because I don't have a future...Why does it take young people like me, up on a f**king gantry on the M25, for you to listen?"

I've just released my song, 'We Tried': a song about the climate crisis and what will happen if we don't act. It's written from a possible future perspective of 'we ran out of time' to prevent irreversible catastrophe; we ran out of time to save everything we love. Its accompanying music video shows me singing directly to camera, tears rolling down my face, as footage of politicians, climate victims and successful social movements in history cut through the lyrics, "Maybe we were meant to win...but not enough good drowned out the sin...they watched the world cave in." I want this song to be a wake-up call for anyone who is simply going about their ordinary life, as if we aren't in a life-threatening emergency. I want them to feel how they would feel if we all let this worst-case scenario unfold - and then use that feeling, that motivation, to spur themselves into collective climate action - so we can prevent this scenario ever materialising.

The music video is being shared by Chris Packham, Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil and Music Declares Emergency. It has a big potential to reach a lot of people - and move them, in a way only music can. It's not too late to change things - to save things. We can win. Through civil disobedience, through protest, through a mass movement. I'm using my music, to try and spark such a thing. Historically, music and art have been instrumental in achieving social change.

I have written a total of 6 songs relating to the climate crisis and/or activism (so far!), which I would like to release over this coming year (i.e. ASAP) as an album, but released as singles along the way - to maximise the reach and coverage of each song (common advice in the music industry). Each single costs at least £2,000 to professionally produce and release, including promotion costs (social media adverts, etc.). And in order for me to have the time and energy to make all of this happen in the next year, I also need to have enough money to just live - so I don't have to waste time in a meaningless job just to pay the bills. Therefore, I am setting a goal of £20,000, to try and make this climate album - which could mobilise millions of people into the climate movement - a reality. We don't have long left - so anything you can give to help me achieve this goal would be so appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Together, we will win.
