Dear Friends,
My name is George, and I’m a 25-year-old aspiring Paralympic athlete. I wanted to share my story and dreams with you because I believe that with your support, I can take a significant step closer to representing our country on the Paralympic stage.
Since birth, I’ve faced the challenges of Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects the right side of my body and my left leg. Daily tasks are a struggle, and I’m no stranger to unexpected falls. But I refuse to let these obstacles hinder my pursuit of my dreams.
Over the years, I’ve explored various sports, from disability football to wheelchair basketball and tennis. However, it wasn’t until I discovered wheelchair rugby four years ago that I found my true passion. Coventry Stampede, a club formed by Coventry Rugby Club, introduced me to this incredible sport, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Wheelchair rugby has not only given me a way to stay physically active but also provided a fantastic social outlet, connecting me with supportive teammates and friends who share my passion.
In the past year and a half, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the GB Wheelchair Rugby National talent program. This experience has deepened my understanding of the sport, improved my skills through various drills, and reinforced the importance of a healthy body and mind.
To continue my journey and excel further in the world of wheelchair rugby, I’ve reached a critical point where I need my own bespoke rugby wheelchair. Currently, I rent my training chair from my club, which limits what I can do and where I can take it. To unlock my full potential and work towards representing my country in the Paralympic Games, owning my equipment and chair is essential.
Regrettably, I cannot fund this on my own, which is why I’ve set up this GoFundMe campaign. Your support, no matter the amount, will make a world of difference in helping me reach my goals and continue this incredible journey.
