Help me fundraise for my Kenya trip 2026

I need your help and support to help me to attend an upcoming trip of a lifetime where I will be undertaking volunteering work in Kenya.

I currently attend Granville Academy in Woodville, Swadlincote and I am in Year 9. Partnering with African Adventures, the school have given us the exciting opportunity to undertake a volunteering trip to Kenya in February 2026. This will give us the incredible opportunity to take ourr learning beyond the classroom, developing new skills whilst contributing to real change in a developing community.

In Kenya, the cost of an education is out of reach for many, so we will be able to work with schools that have been set up by local people to give Kenyan children the chance of a better future. 45% of the Kenyan population live below the poverty line, surviving on 80p or less per day. As well as volunteering to support local schools, we will be taking part in activities to widen our cultural understanding as well as spending a day on a safari.

Whilst the trip will undoubtedly be of benefit for the children of Kenya, the trip will also be of great benefit to me too. As well as offering exciting and unfamiliar educational opportunities that will hopefully stimulate our imaginations and ignite a thirst for learning and knowledge, this trip will also help to strengthen social skills, confidence and wider aspirations that will contribute to my academic success.

The total cost for each student attending this trip is £2390 which includes all flights, accommodation, transfers, food, insurances and activities. As you may be aware, school trips are surplus to the curriculum and, as such, the financial responsibility for these usually rests with parents or through individual fundraising efforts. This is why I am writing to you … I need your help. Could you support me by sponsoring me or contributing to my fundraising efforts for the trip?

Any support that you could offer would be gratefully received and I will of course seek to promote the support received in any way that I can. I would also be happy to update you after the trip so that you can see the impact that any support you can offer has had.
