Help me fundraise for The Moira Fund!
On October 6th I'm running the Glasgow Half Marathon in aid of The Moira Fund. The longest run I’ve ever done and in Glasgow no less!
The Moira Fund is an incredible charity that was set up in memory of Moira Jones, who was tragically murdered in Queens Park, Glasgow, in May 2008.
Following her death, family, friends and colleagues of Moira wished to establish a fund in her memory that would support others who found themselves bereaved through violent death at the hands of another.
Moira’s family received many beautiful letters after her death and her many friends spoke of her helpfulness, caring and non-judgemental nature. In the spirit of Moira, the family put this fund together to help plug the gaps they felt were in the system so that those working with distressed families could help provide holistic funding support to those who need it the most. This can be anything from wellbeing retreats, day trips, sports membership - anything that isn’t your everyday basic needs!
You can read more about the charity’s work here: https://www.themoirafund.org.uk
As an intersectional feminist who advocates and fights for gender equality in the everything I do, who hopes that one day all women and girls can live free from forms of violence, abuse and murder, I feel the Moira Fund deserves the recognition and support for the hugely important work they do. So please give as generously as you can!
Important information on the scale of the half marathon challenge:
- I've never ran further than 12k
- I’m attempting to complete the full half in under 2 hours
- I’ve done very little training and I’m extremely busy
Thank you so much for your support and most importantly for donating!
