Help me get my Rosie the border terrier better

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jenny, and I am the luckiest dog owner in the world. Two years ago, I met the love of my life, a beautiful Border Terrier named Rosie. Rosie came into my life at a time when I desperately needed her. After losing our 14-year-old Pug mix, I was heartbroken and unsure if I could ever love another dog the same way. But when Rosie entered our lives, she brought with her a love and light that I didn't know was possible. How Rosie came into my life feels like fate. I had initially put an advert on Pets4Homes looking for a Border Terrier puppy. I found one, but before I could meet her, the breeder informed me that the puppy had a bad eye and gave me a refund. It was disappointing, but little did I know that something better was just around the corner.A chap who had two Border Terriers saw my advert and messaged me. He explained that he didn’t have time for one of his dogs—a little girl who was often left on her own. He lived six hours away by train, but after careful thought, plenty of calls, and pictures, we decided she would be the perfect girl for us. When he finally made the six-hour journey, it was love at first sight. It was as if Rosie knew I would be her mum, and she didn’t even look back at her previous owner when we met. She was meant to be with me.Rosie is more than just a pet; she’s my best friend, my little comedian, and my constant companion. She’s a tiny bundle of joy, full of personality—loving, hilarious, kind, and even a bit bossy (especially to our Bull Terrier, who is genuinely scared of this little wookie!). Life without her would be unimaginable.Rosie is part of everything we do. She comes with us to every fete and country fair, and she even joins me at work sometimes. Her favourite hobby is staring into hedges, searching for rats—she could do it for hours if you let her! Rosie’s adventurous spirit and happy-go-lucky nature bring so much joy into our lives.Unfortunately, our happy life has recently taken a heartbreaking turn. Yesterday, we went for a walk, and though Rosie was still enjoying herself, I noticed she was stumbling slightly. It worried me, but she seemed happy to be out and about, so I hoped it was just a fluke. But this morning, everything changed. Rosie had lost all balance and could barely stand. My heart broke as I watched her struggle, knowing something was terribly wrong.A trip to the vet confirmed our worst fears. Rosie has a slipped disc and, according to the specialists, needs surgery to have any chance of recovery. The cost of this surgery, along with the necessary post-operative care, is estimated to be £7,500.As much as it pains me to say, I am facing an impossible choice. My insurance will only cover £600 more of the costs, leaving me far short of what is needed to get Rosie back to her old self. I have tried everything to find a way to afford this surgery, but I simply do not have the resources. The thought of losing Rosie, my little terror and the light of my life, is unbearable.I feel like I am failing her. Having to ask for help makes me feel like I have somehow let her down, and it breaks my heart to be in this position. But I know I can’t give up on her without trying everything I possibly can. This is why I am humbly reaching out to you.I never imagined I would need to ask for help like this, but Rosie’s well-being means the world to me. If you can find it in your heart to donate—even a small amount—or share our story with others, it would mean so much to me and, more importantly, to Rosie. Every little bit helps, and together, we can give Rosie the chance to live the full, happy life she deserves.I can provide any proof needed to show the costings, so you can be assured that every penny will go towards helping Rosie.Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Rosie and I are forever grateful for your kindness and support.

Any excess funds will be donated to the border terrier welfare trust.
