Help me go on a Girlguiding trip to Morocco!

Hi, my name is Ella Pawley, and I am a 15-year-old Girlguide from the Bristol area. I have been selected to take part in a Girlguiding South West Region trip to Morocco in 2023. I will be taking part in a sponsored walking challenge over the next few months to raise money for my trip!

As a group, we aim to walk a collective distance of 4528km before we head to Morocco - the same distance from Gatwick to Marrakech Airport! I will walk small distances, increasing in length until I meet my goal in one walk! :)

The trip will take place in the Summer of 2023 and last two weeks. It is being led by an organisation called Venture Force, who will accompany us on the trip. During the expedition, we will take part in a 4-day trek in the Toubkal National Park, where we will be hiking valleys and mountain passes. This section of the trip is an amazing opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture as we will be spending the nights in native villages, away from any modern towns or cities. We will also travel through natural wonders such as the Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley to Erg Chebbi on the edge of the Sahara desert. From here, we will get the opportunity to camel trek through the Sahara and camp out in the dunes. The focal point of the trip, however, is a community project located within Toubkal National Park. We will help with the project for 3-4 days and support the local village of Tamgaist at the base of Mt. Toubkal - the tallest mountain in North Africa. We will be assisting in the building of an irrigation system which will help them grow more crops and provide running water to 150 families in the area.
