Help me Heal from TSW & Severe Alopecia

Hi, I'm Lana and I've been living with Eczema since I was a toddler which has resulted in 20+ years of topical steroid usage. As an adult, my skin became less and less controlled by these topical drugs and I was flaring more frequently with red, inflamed, dry, swollen and SEVERELY itchy skin.

In the last 3-7 years, my skin has become even more unimaginably severe - constantly cycling between extremely dry flaky skin that cracks and tears easily, bleeds, oozes lymphatic fluid, and is prone to frequent bacterial skin infections. My compromised skin is painful and prevents me from doing basic tasks like cooking for myself. I've struggled to keep up with jobs. On some of the worst days, my face was so inflamed and swollen I couldn't fully open my eyes to see or open my mouth wide enough to eat. I could barely move and bend my joints to grip a pencil, type on a keyboard, or put on clothes. The lesions on my hands and fingers make it extremely difficult to wash my hands with soap and water.

In recent years, I discovered a condition called Topical Steroid Addiction and learned that the decades of using topical steroids on my face, neck, and body were causing my skin to become atrophied (or thinned). They were dysregulating and suppressing my adrenal glands, affecting my organs like my eyes, liver and kidney. The problem ensues every time I see a traditional doctor, as they suggest taking stronger immunosuppressant drugs indefinitely for the rest of my life. I’ve been put on more potent drugs including oral steroids and a new biologic (injectable) - all of which only provided temporary relief and terrible adverse side effects.

In March 2023, I suddenly started shedding MASSIVE amounts of my hair and in 2-3 months lost nearly everything on my scalp including my eyebrows and eyelashes. I was diagnosed with severe Alopecia areata, an autoimmune attack of my immune system on the hair follicles. (Alopecia, Eczema, and Topical Steroid Addiction are all related). This added condition has been deeply isolating and distressing. As someone who's depended on medication for practically my whole life and tried alternatives like TCM, Korean Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, Phototherapy and failed to find curative relief, I can’t stand to continue living in a chronic cycle of suffering.

I’ve discovered a new therapy called Cold Atmospheric Plasma. CAP is an emerging technology in aesthetic and medical sciences. This treatment is not available in the U.S. and it is expensive, so I’m seeking funds to help me with travel, medical and living expenses. The treatment duration is typically a minimum of 4-6 months. Because I’m dealing with 2 extremes of severe conditions, I expect my case to be difficult and complicated.
