Help me help children in Ghana!
Donation protected
My name is Joanna, and I have dedicated over 15 years to volunteering with various organizations, including retirement homes and shelters. Recently, a life-changing trip to a rural village in Ghana deeply impacted me, revealing the harsh realities faced by the local community, particularly the children.
During my time in the village, I was struck by the lack of basic necessities like bathrooms. Despite these challenges, the resilience, love, and happiness of the people—especially the children—left a profound impression on me.
Inspired by this experience, I returned to the U.S. determined to make a lasting difference. I decided to establish a non-profit organization, and while I've made significant progress, I'm currently awaiting federal non-profit status, which can take a few months. Unfortunately, this means I cannot yet offer tax-deductible donations through the organization, and I'm running out of personal savings to fund this dream. To continue the work, I've set up this GoFundMe page, so your donations can be tax deductible immediately.
Today, I'm reaching out to ask for your support in raising funds for my organization and to help me return to Ghana to launch meaningful projects. Some of my goals include bringing water and electricity to the local school and building separate bathrooms for boys and girls, as the school currently lacks these essential facilities.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of my trip was witnessing the limited food supply, only about 30 children were being fed at school, leaving many others hungry. My first project aims to start a lunch program for all 100 children attending the local school, ensuring that each child receives a nutritious meal every day.
Your kindness and support will directly impact critical aspects of our initiative.
1. Nutrition program
To address food insecurity, I am committed to implementing a two-year lunch program for 100 children. In an area with limited food access, this program will provide essential nourishment to support their educational journey.
2. Basic Needs:
We will provide shoes, school supplies, clothing, and hygiene products to children in need, ensuring they have the essentials for their education and well-being.
3. Infrastructure Development:
I have a comprehensive plan that includes renting a house for volunteers and employees, hiring a manager to oversee the NGO's operations in Ghana, collaborating with a volunteer agency, and employing three local staff members to support our efforts.
4. Furnishing & Logistics:
Funds will be used to furnish the volunteer house and cover transportation costs for volunteers and employees.
5. Construction:
We will purchase construction materials, rent machinery, and hire local construction workers to collaborate with volunteers on building projects.
In the past few months, I've invested numerous days and nights tirelessly crafting this plan. I've made countless calls to Ghana, establishing crucial connections to ensure we can provide assistance to those children.
Your contributions will be instrumental in realizing our vision of creating a brighter future for the children and communities in Ghana.
Thank you for your unwavering support and compassion. Together, we can make a profound and lasting impact.
