Help Me, Help My Mom & Dad

Hi everyone.

Most of you reading this already know me, but for those that may not, my name is Stevie Lyons.

Recently, my parent's health has been declining, particularly my dad's. He is 89, and although he would never admit it, he needs more help than my mom alone can provide.

My dad is my favourite person in the world. He has always done everything he can to support me and to help anyone he encountered who needed it, whether he knew them or not. He never asked or expected anything in return. He just always did whatever he could to make the world a little bit of a better place.

This is why I have decided to move back home to give them whatever help and support I can, and I need your help. The pandemic devastated the arts industry (where I was working at the time COVID hit), and it took all of my savings just to survive. I can't do this alone.

In order to move, I need help to cover the cost of the move itself, a small camper where I can stay while I work on the house, and a little for some cleaning supplies/desperately needed renovations on the house to make sure they are as safe and comfortable as possible (a new faucet for the sink, a microwave for cooking, replace the steps to the door, a vacuum etc).

I intend to treat all donations as a loan and repay them as quickly as possible; however, I can make no promises as to when that may be. I will not be able to work consistently while I am there as they live about 20 kilometres outside the nearest town, and they currently don't have a vehicle (the transmission in their car went about a month ago). I will still be doing online contract work, but this sort of work is sporadic and inconsistent. But I promise to do my utmost to get your generous loan back to you as soon as possible.

Any of you that know me are aware I hate asking for help. I have always been fiercely independent and would rather go hungry than burden others with my struggles. But I am not asking for me. My parents are the best people I know and what they need now is their daughter. If I won the lottery, I would be there tomorrow, but that's not how real life works. I know that the world is a mess right now, and that everyone is struggling. I expect nothing, but I feel like I have no other way to take care of the people who have given their entire lives to take care of others. To take care of me.

So I am asking.

Help me, help them.
