Help Me, Help You... Die with Grace

Donation protected
Hello to my beloved community & beyond -

My name is Emily, and I need your help. I have just been notified (this morning!) that I have been accepted into the Death Doula training of my dreams through Going with Grace - a revolutionary platform/community/organization bringing holistic end-of-life planning and care worldwide.

I work as a full-time Birth & Postpartum Doula in Reno, NV. My journey to becoming a doula in the birth space was fueled by passion, fantastic timing, and a little help from the Universe. My journey to becoming a Death Doula feels eerily similar.

Since hearing the news of a dear chosen family member's choice to pursue hospice care two months ago, I have been facing the deep and unshakable truths that lie at the end of life. The day I heard the news was also the day I learned that Going with Grace was hosting their first ever training as an in-person retreat. It felt kismet - like it was happening just for me. I applied immediately. I was initially waitlisted, as they are only accepting 35 applicants out of likely hundreds, if not thousands, as they are a global organization.

I momentarily let go of the dream and decided I would reapply in 2023. Then, two weeks later, I got the email saying I was accepted. My mouth hit the ground.

I am currently in the first year of running my private Doula practice while balancing the (unpaid) workload from a non-profit organization I co-founded over the past few months. All that to say - I don't exactly have an overflow of cash right now to pay out-of-pocket for this life-changing opportunity.

Humbly, I request the assistance of my community to raise $3600 by November 1st.

These funds with help me cover the cost of the deposit that holds my spot in the training ($500), three installments of $965 for the training itself, daily meals, lodging, and airport shuttle (totaling $3,395), along with flights from Reno to Oracle, AZ where the retreat is being held (~$200).

Any amount you can give is deeply felt and appreciated.
Sharing my story & this fundraiser is also deeply felt and appreciated.

It drives me to imagine bringing what I learn at this retreat back to my communities to serve those nearing their end of life experiences and ease the burden that death can create for their loved ones. Thank you for helping me make this dream a reality.

Yours in gratitude,
Emily
