Help me in the fight for my Life

My name is Omar Capo, I'm one in 42 (adults) worldwide with a rare Cancer called Sclerosing Rhabdomyosarcoma. It's a muscle tissue Cancer that primarily affects children, with a survival rate of 5yrs. At age 36 I was first diagnosed with this Pediatric Cancer. Hearing those words the very first time was numbing, Fast forward 7yrs later(now), being told that my prognosis is very poor and I'm deemed inoperable by my current team of medical professionals. All of this has created a sense of urgency to share my story. 

I've always been healthy. I live a modest life and have always worked hard, focused on God, my family and close friends. I had kept a small savings; you know, “just in case’. My life however, drastically changed when I was diagnosed with Sclerosing Rhabdomyosarcoma back in 2013. I had gone to the dentist for what I assumed was an abscessed tooth only to be referred out to discover otherwise. It was a malignant tumor. I could go into some technical terms that most would require a medical degree to comprehend, but I’ll spare you the jargon I’ve only learned through my experience. 

The “just in case” occurred, and life as I knew it was over. I lost my barber business, fell short financially, and my family was put through unexpected trials.  I have a fiance and three children, two of which are under the age of 3 years old. I had undergone treatment at that time and after a year was in remission. Life appeared to be getting back on track until 2020. My fiance and I were preparing for the arrival of my third child and I knew something was wrong. The excruciating pains were back in my face and neck. While most were concerned with COVID related isolation and challenges,  I was having difficulty scheduling my routine follow ups. By the time I was able to receive the results of my scans, I had learned the cancer had returned. The cancer extends from my jaw to the base of my skull. It is deep in the tissue in my neck and is now pressing on my carotid artery. My team of medical professionals said I'm no longer a candidate for radiation as I had gone through extensive treatment previously. This could in turn rupture the artery. The location of the cancer has made it currently inoperable. I’m currently receiving/trying multiple types of chemotherapy. The hope is that it will shrink enough to operate. So far it has been an unsuccessful journey. I am remaining hopeful. 

In addition to fighting for my life, I fear the weight of the burden my family will endure as I go through this process. We are currently working with doctors across the country in hopes to find the solution. My physician would like me to get the proverbial second opinion (technically my fourth) and begin treatments in Texas. I live in a small town called York(Dover) in Pennsylvania.The flights, hotels, and travel will be yet another financial burden. My medical insurance will not be covering my full treatment and research. The “just in case” savings have been depleted and fear of any additional hurdles my family will endure is enough to bring me to my knees. I pray for a miracle. I pray that there will be a way for the hospital to make me better and save my life. All I’d like is to provide for my family and be there to watch my children grow. I’ve never wanted for much. My fiance and kids were always enough for me.
