Help me kick leukemia in the butt!
Donation protected
Hello friends and family. On September 7, 2023 I received news after routine blood work associated with my pregnancy no one ever wants to hear. I was 33 weeks pregnant with my son Daniel Felix Morales at the time. Blood results revealed I was afflicted with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with Philadelphia Positive (B-Cell ALL PH +). B-Cell ALL PH + occurs when B-lymphocytes (white blood cells within the bone marrow and blood) are overproduced and begin to change (mutate) abnormally. These cells grow rapidly and build up, forcing out healthy blood cells. This may lead to anemia, low blood counts and issues in other tissues and organs.
To make a bad situation worse my baby boy, Daniel Felix Morales, decided to enter this world seven weeks early. He is currently at Herman Memorial Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Houston, Texas for a minimum of seven weeks. I have been separated from him as I was transferred to M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. The leukemia team treating me have begun to administer chemo pills to help me fight off this terrible disease, and have been told my hospital stay is estimated to be 30 days. I will be unable to be with my newborn during that time.
After my hospital stay I will need to travel to M.D. Anderson, Houston, Texas a total of five separate times for treatment. I live in the Mission, Texas, which is an approximate six hour drive. Each separate treatment will require a four weeks stay in Houston, Texas. The five separate treatments will continue until on or about July 2024. This will require lodging, fuel, food and any other unforeseen miscellaneous financial expenses. Prior to receiving this extremely and scary diagnosis I was not employed as I was enrolled in school.
I humbly reach out to all my family and friends for any assistance possible. Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated. I am very confident with the level of care, highly experienced leukemia team and current treatment I will successfully beat this and return home to raise my children. All funds received will go directly to help cover expenses associated with subsequent treatments. Any remaining funds will be paid forward and donated to M.D. Anderson.
