Help me pay for surgery

My name is Kaycee, and I’m a transgender man. I’m a 17 year old high school senior, and am currently faced with Montana’s gender affirming care ban that, as of now, will be active on October 1st.

Toward the end of 8th grade, I realized that I’m transgender. I came out in April of 2021, and with full support from my family and friends, I was able to start testosterone in December of the same year. After almost two years of being on testosterone, I’ve never been as happy as I am now. I’ve gained so much more confidence, so many friends, and I’m able to focus on school as opposed to my discomfort. For the first time in my life, I’m excited to have a future, and a career in music education.

These last few years, I’ve wanted top surgery to “finalize” my transition. My family and I have been trying to get this done through a surgeon in my city, but due to uncontrollable circumstances, she has been unavailable until recently. I would be able to get surgery next Tuesday (9/26/2023), but my insurance won’t be able to cover the costs in time. Under normal circumstances, my surgery would be covered, but because of Montana’s pending gender affirming care ban, it is no longer an option. I would wait for surgery until I turn 18, but that won’t be until after I graduate. Having this surgery now would save me from another year of constant dysphoria, distress, and discomfort. I can’t imagine spending so much more time suffering like this.

Under any other circumstance I would not be asking anyone for so much money, but I see this as my only option at this point. If I’m able to raise a little more than $11,000 in six days, the burden of surgery and hospital fees would be completely lifted. This money would be due, in full, the day before the surgery. If we aren’t able to raise enough money, I will have to go out of state to get this done. Having this surgery would mean a lifetime of happiness and comfort in my own skin. Any donations would mean the whole world to me.
