Help me Pursue My Dream In Crime and Forensic Science

Hello! I'm Madison Lankester, a 22-year-old passionate about youth mental health, education, and crime prevention. I'm seeking your support to fund my MSc in Crime and Forensic Science at University College London, starting in September 2024. This program is a crucial step toward my goal of shaping education and crime policies, but the financial burden of tuition and living expenses is a significant challenge.

My Journey and Passion

I graduated with First Class Honours in BSc Neuroscience and Psychology from King’s College London in 2023. My studies ignited my interest in the connection between education, neurodevelopment, and youth crime. I’m currently working to publish my research dissertation, a systematic review and meta-analysis on the link between academic achievement and youth offending. This research has sharpened my focus on how educational policies can reduce crime rates and improve youth outcomes.

Hands-On Experience

In addition to my research, I work as a SEN (Special Educational Needs) teaching assistant at a specialist school, supporting young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role has given me a deeper understanding of the lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences and traumas. I witness daily how positive educational experiences can significantly improve a young person’s mental health and shape their future.

Financial Challenges

Despite working full-time and exploring various funding options, I have not secured the necessary funds for the upcoming academic year. My mum, a single parent working as a carer on minimum wage, cannot provide financial support. The high cost of living and other expenses make saving for my studies very difficult.

Why I Need Your Help
