One Final Hurdle: Help Me Get My Nursing License
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Alexandria, and I am fundraising to complete a mandatory refresher course to achieve my dream of working as a licensed nurse.
In 2015, after my son was born prematurely at 25 weeks, I decided to pursue a nursing degree. I completed two years of prerequisite classes by 2017 and was accepted into the Arizona State Master Nursing program in 2020. After graduating in 2022, I faced significant health challenges, including an emergency surgery and bilateral pulmonary emboli. Despite these setbacks, I worked full-time, took some recovery time, and prepared for the NCLEX (the nursing licensure exam).
Unfortunately, I failed the NCLEX twice, which left me feeling defeated. However, I promised myself and my son that I would finish what I started. Arizona law requires graduates to pass the NCLEX within two years of graduation. Due to the stress and financial strain, I was unable to make a critical deadline: I needed to pass the NCLEX by April 26, 2024. Although I passed the exam on May 8, 2024, it was too late, and I must now complete a refresher course before I can work as a nurse.
The best program for me is an online refresher course through South Dakota State University. The course costs over $3,000, and I have 12 months to complete it while balancing full-time work and motherhood.
I am reaching out to the GoFundMe community and the kindness of friends, family, and strangers for support in overcoming this final hurdle. Your help would mean the world to me and bring me one step closer to fulfilling my nursing journey. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
Warm regards,
Alexandria
