Help me Save my Family's Present & Future in Gaza

  • My brother Mohamed and his sons, Mahmoud and Mostafa

Dear Friends and Supporters,

The picture you see here is not just rubble—it’s what remains of the house I grew up in. For 22 years, this was my family’s home, filled with memories and laughter. But now, it's all gone. The tent photo is of where my family lives right now, in a tent.

Who are you donating to:
My brothers
From the left: My younger brother, Ahmed, 20.
My older brother, Mohammed, next to Ahmed. He has a family of four, his wife Nedaa, and two children, Mahmoud and Mustafa.

On the right, my oldest brother, Ehab. He has a family of 5, his wife Ola, and his children, Tala, Yara, Yasser, and Lama.

My sisters, Noor with her children, Yara and Ali, and my other sister Nermeen with her children, Oday and Zayn.
A photo of Oday and Zayn in their home before the war:

In October 2023, our home was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike. Thankfully, my family managed to evacuate before it was hit, but they were forced to flee to the south of Gaza, leaving behind everything we had ever known. Not only did we lose our home, but we also lost our livelihood—our shop, the car, and everything my parents and siblings spent their lives working for.

Today, my family faces unimaginable conditions. They’re living in a makeshift tent, struggling to survive in the face of extreme cold, starvation, and unhygienic surroundings.

Other photos of them and the dailies of war:

The war has stripped them of more than just possessions. My family is now without the basic necessities of life: clean water, electricity, and medicine. The situation is desperate, and I can’t help but worry that even when the war ends, they may still be left with nothing but the streets.

I have six siblings, four of whom have their own families. They live in different tents, struggling to provide for themselves and their children. I have 10 nephews and nieces who, not long ago, were focused on school and homework. Now, their only concern is survival.

  • Nephews, Oday and Zayn, Nermeen's sons in the war. They lost a lot of weight.

It’s been a year and three months since my family was displaced. The conditions in the tents are unbearable. My parents are old and they're both sick. Sleeping on a thin mattress and during such circumstances makes their condition worse. When it rains, the tents flood, leaving them soaked and vulnerable.

I was lucky enough to travel for my scholarship in the US in August 2023 and was stuck here afterward. I’ve created this GoFundMe campaign to help my family—22 people in total—simply survive. Your donations will go directly towards securing shelter, food, water, and essential supplies that they desperately need.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a real difference. Your support won’t just help us recover from this immediate crisis—it will restore a sense of hope and stability for my family’s future.

Thank you for reading our story and for any help you can give. Your kindness means more than words can express.

With deep gratitude,
Mahmoud Alyazji

How does the money reach Gaza?
I transfer the funds from my Bank of America account to my brother’s account at the Bank of Palestine in Gaza. The bank was bombed and the ATMs are out of cash.

Some people of Gaza still have a lot of money in cash. My brother goes to one of them and gets the funds by transferring the money to the person's Bank of Palestinian account via the phone application.

Unfortunately, the fees are steep—ranging from 10% to as high as 45%. As of December 2024, the rate is 40%. This means that $100 sent may arrive as just $56 after the fees of the Bank of Palestine and the person's fees. It’s far from fair, but it’s currently the only way to get the money to them.
