Help me Save Ragnar the Husky
Donation protected
Ragnar is a wonderful amazing Husky dog I rescued from the San Diego dog pound several years ago. He was too aggressive to adopt out, and had been there for months. I took him in and rehabilitated him with love and compassion. I don't believe he knew that people could be trusted and had love. My efforts and all the people who love him showed him how wonderful people can be. He became a loving, friendly, silly, playful, beautiful, outgoing, supportive, wonderful wonderful being.
Now, He fulfills his name so well, he is a huge personality. He loves everyone and loves attention! Everyone at all his usual places knows and welcomes him! He always is looking for cookies! He is my world. We hike and play and sleep together each and every day. I take him all over to share his husky love! He brought me out of a long depression with his unbounded joy, friendliness and mischief. I would do anything for him. I have helped him though all sorts of troubles, and in return he has give me and everyone he meets so much love.
But then Ragnar got sick a few weeks ago, and needed emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage on 29 May. I nursed him all night and day since then, and he seemed to be getting better. We were going to be cleared for Play on Monday. We were so looking forward to that. The surgery cost $7000. The first photo is him a few days ago, all weirdly shaved from surgery, taking a break from the cone of shame.
Then he started to get worse yesterday and is back in the hospital with a very high fever. His condition is getting worse, and it is already at least $3500 more. I have my credit card pretty well maxed out.
Now My challenge is that I am almost out of money, and it may take a great deal more to save his life. Especially if he has complications with his surgery. It could easily be $7000 - $10,000 more. He is in the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital right now struggling for life.
He brings so much joy to me and everyone he meets. My heart could not weather not being able to afford saving him. Please please help me save this beautiful wonderful person. I am not sure there are adequate words in the English language to express how much I care for Ragnar, or how much gratitude I will have for help saving him. Love saved him so many times, I hope your love can help him this time too. He will surely Love you so very much also!
Thank you Everyone! We have already been able to upgrade his level of care! Husky Love!!
Update:
Ragnar is now out of the Hospital (Again!) And tentatively doing better. He doesn't need the cone and that has lifted his spirits and made nursing easier. We got the results from the advanced panel funded by this campaign, and amazingly, despite using NextGuard, tick repellent, and frequent inspection and removal of said pests, he was positive for Anaplasmosis. It seems perhaps he already was suffering from that and got the one-two from the surgery. While the doctors said they are not certain this is the cause of the extreme fever, it seems that it would be likely. The good thing is the antibiotic regime was just the right thing. Fingers crossed! Provided the antibiotic works, all we have to do is pay the staggeringly giant bill and hope his beautiful grows back so he can stun all his friends (you all!) with his dashing looks once more!
June 13 Update:
Ragnar continues to gain strength. His appetite is still meh, but through creative enticement he is eating adequately. The plumbing is out of whack, but his diarrhea has subsided. Any one who cared for animals of course know how important quality Input and OUTPUT is! haha! I added a few more pics of his crazily shaved self. You can see his wicked battle scar. That was a +10 damage. Another of him Smell-O-Dexing every inch of our daily walk and this morning chomping his favorite denta bone.
The sun is brighter, the bird song more musical, and the air sweeter with Ragnar in good health and spirits!
Thank you all so very VERY much! Saved by Love once again! Ragnar Loves all of you wonderful people! Husky Love!!
