My name is Sam, and I’m 19 years old. I’m in a situation that I can’t handle on my own—my brother and dog, stamp, and I desperately need your help.

Our Story

Recently, I was diagnosed with a serious condition called aspergilloma, a fungal infection that forms a ball of fungus in the lungs, leading to severe respiratory issues. I developed this condition due to the unhealthy conditions of the house we currently live in. The walls are covered in mold, the dampness is unbearable, and there's asbestos in the bathroom that I’ve reported several times to no help. This is my dad’s home that he’s neglected, and now I need to leave with the dog because of how serious the condition is. I’ve put all my money into the house, taking care of him and digging him out of any holes he’s put himself in, and now I don’t have the money to go to university. Our dog has also suffered, developing CRGV (Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy), a deadly disease linked to the poor conditions of our home.

Unfortunately, my dad doesn’t believe in medical treatment and has abused me for far too long. He’s now kicked me out, after I refused to give him more money, hence why this GoFundMe is so important. I’m on my friend’s sofa at the moment, but she goes back to university on Friday. I have until then to get the funds to move out, get the surgery I need, and start my life without the financial stress of taking care of my siblings and my dad.

My brother looks up to me, and I promised him I’d always protect him. He’s extremely autistic and needs my support. Stamp has been by my side through every hardship, offering unconditional love. Leaving them behind in this situation is not an option for me. I’ve decided to take full responsibility for myself, but I need your help to make this happen.

How You Can Help

I’m currently preparing for a custody battle to keep my brother with me full-time. I’m ready to accept all the responsibilities that come with this. However, I still need financial support to cover several critical areas:

-Living Costs: We need to move out of our current home immediately to escape the hazardous conditions and neglect. This will cover rent, utilities, and basic necessities as we start our new life. I want to create a safe and stable environment where my brother, Stamp, and I can thrive.

- Education: I’m committed to giving myself the best possible chance at a future. I plan to enroll in Cardiff University to continue my education while working. Both my parents grew up on benefits, and my dad’s in and out of prison—I refuse to be another statistic.

- Court Costs: I want my brother with me full-time so that he doesn’t have to deal with what I have. The custody battle to keep him safe will be challenging and expensive. I’m ready to fight for him, but I need help covering legal fees to ensure he can stay with someone who truly cares about his well-being.

Everything counts and will bring us closer to escaping this dangerous environment and starting anew.
