Help Show These Kids What Blount County Strong Means

I learned recently that if the children at the school have unpaid fees of any kind that they will not be allowed to attend their 8th grade formal. Even more heartbreaking, many of the fees due are owed to the lunchroom. I reached out to the school and was able to confirm this. This is not an annual thing for these kids, it is their only 8th grade dance and many won't get to attend another until Prom. It absolutely breaks my heart that kiddos who have done everything they are supposed to do are not able to attend because of their financial situation, that at their age, is completely out of their control. They kept up their grades, they maintained their attendance, they were well behaved as expected. It is simply not fair. My hope is to come together as a community to help out. I understand the school not being able to have so many unpaid fees, so please do don't misunderstand, I am not going after the school. We love our school! I just desperately sympathize with the parents also, so many families are having a hard time right now. I especially sympathize with the children as this has absolutely nothing to do with them. So, please help us pay down as many of these fees as we can so that if a child wants to attend they are able to, and maybe lift a little weight off of a struggling family who are just as sad as I am that their kid has to miss out on yet another thing.
