Help to bring Julia home

Hi, Thanks everybody for the overwhelming amount of messages and emails you sent after Julia’s passing. I could truly feel the love you have for her.

After I already requested everybody to get refunded, most of you asked me to keep the money and use it for something nice for Julia. Therefore I decided to use the money for her memorial service. I will donate whatever is left of the money to the University of Rostock for ALS research lead by Prof. Dr. Prudlo who was Julia’s neurologist.

However, since that wasn’t the initial idea why you donated money, I’d still like to give the opportunity to everyone of you to request a personal refund.

Als erstes möchte ich mich ganz herzlich für die unzähligen Nachrichten und Anteilnahmen zu Julias Tod bedanken. Es war schön zu lesen, wieviel euch Julia bedeutet hat.

Nachdem ich bereits beantragt habe, dass jeder seine Spende zurück bekommt, schrieben die meisten von Euch, dass ich das Geld behalten solle für Julias Abschiedsfeier und Julias letzte Ruhestätte. Davon habe ich mich bewegen lassen und mich entschlossen, das Geld für Julias Trauerfeier zu nehmen. Was danach übrig ist, werde ich an die Universität Rostock spenden für die ALS Forschung und der Leitung von Herrn Prof. Dr. Prudlo, der Julias behandelnder Neurologe war.

Hi, My 41 year young wife Julia is terminally ill with ALS (Lou Gehrig disease). After getting the run-around by doctors at home in north Idaho and taking care of her by myself for 2 years at home we decided to bring her closer to her family in Germany. Over there the diagnose has been confirmed again and the disease has progressed a lot. Now Julia is late stage with not very much time left. Her last wish is to come to Idaho and pass away there at our home of 7 years. Since she is too weak and too sick to fly on a commercial airline, she would have to get on a private plane. The costs for a flight from Germany to Spokane and the transport to our home near Athol are beyond what we are capable of paying for. That’s why we‘re asking our community in north Idaho as well as friends and family around the world for help. We know it’s a really long shot but we don’t want to leave anything un-tried… Please help to get Julia home for the last few weeks she has left. She would love to see our home and our dogs again. Hospice of North Idaho has been informed of the situation and they’re willing to help with Julia’s end-of-life care at home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
