Help support my family in Gaza and continue my education

Hello my dear followers and supporters,

My name is Dr. Mahmoud Raja Abu Shammala, I’m 26 and I currently volunteer at Al-Nasser hospital in Gaza.

Before the genocide started I used to work at 3 private medical centers as a dentist then I began specializing in oral and maxillo-facial surgery.

I used to wake up at 7am and I came back home at 11 at night. The places I worked at were located in Gaza, Khan Yunis and Nuseirat.

I also worked at Al-Nasser hospital, Al-Shifa hospital, military medical services hospital and the Palestinian Red Crescent.

I am currently trapped in Al-Nasser hospital, we are getting besieged by the Israeli army and going outside is too dangerous. Some people who left the hospital came back as martyrs.

When the Israeli army besieged the hospital many people and workers evacuated the hospital, there are only a few doctors and nurses who stayed in the hospital.

Due to the ongoing bombings we continue to receive many injured patients and martyrs, we overwork because we lack medical staff, we work under pressure and we don’t have the right equipments to treat the patients because nothing is coming into the hospital which ends up with us having more martyrs since we can’t always help everyone. We barely sleep, we don’t have much to eat or drink so the situation is only getting worse.

There’s no hygiene, everywhere is garbage, blood stains are everywhere which is dangerous, a lot of illnesses are spreading.

My family and I kept getting displaced from place to place until I decided to stay behind at Al-Nasser hospital it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I had to continue my work and take care of my patients.

The rest of my family are currently in Rafah staying in tents in the cold and rainy weather.

I’ve decided to make a GoFundMe for my future, my family and to continue my study for a master’s degree after the genocide.

The genocide took everything that I had and worked hard for away.. my home which is now destroyed, my business that I put my hard work, money and time into.

I’ve lost my job, I’ve lost my clinic, I’ve lost my own and new apartment that I just finished decorating, putting in a new TV, washing machine, refrigerator and more.

I’ve lost some of my family members and some of my friends..

The genocide took away so many things from me and from all of us in Gaza.

My plan is leave Gaza with my family after the genocide to start all over again, I want to make sure my family will be safe and settled, I will continue my studies while trying to save up to continue my dream that they took away from me.

To get out of Gaza it’ll cost around $7000 per person, we’re a family of 8 (3 girls, 4 boys including me and our mother) so it’ll be around $56.000.

The rest of the money will go to a shelter to stay at, for basic human needs, clothes, for medical care and the important things because we lost everything that we had.
