Help me to continue my dance science degree

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Seow Yi Qing, I am from Malaysia, a professional dancer turned to be a dance educator. Years after years of trying and failing to enter a master programme without a bachelor, I never thought I would finally being able to return to student again, studying in a programme that I truly and surely want to graduate with, at the University of Chichester. Sadly, about a week ago, I received a devastating email informing me I am not selected to be the recipient of a 90% funded scholarship that I applied for.

I was granted direct entry to the 2nd year of dance science study with my work experience. Without having science background it was a hectic year in 2022/23, but I managed the study well and the suitability of the modules that offered in the university are fitting well to my curiosity. In my country, there is currently not enough attention paid to dancers' physical and mental in the industry. I hope to be a bridge between human science and dance art, to cultivate a healthier and caring dance industry for dance enthusiasts.

Encountered an accident that caused one of my eyes to become visually impaired when I was young, I understand how much sight meant to me. Through the study in psychology in dance and physical activity, I advocate a more inclusive and accessible art and cultural landscape. I want to extend my passion for movement and dance to people with visual impairment. I want to create a safe and comfortable environment for them to enjoy the moment in moving their body, to feel safe to move the way they have always wanted.

The aging population is a topic of concern in every society, and one worth discussing is the growing population of dementia. I am committed to enhancing people's lives by bringing rhythmic movements and the art culture to the senior community, using practice-led research to discover more dance activities that are preventative and delay symptoms of dementia.

Students that I taught, previous teachers and industry friends have been very supportive to my decision and goals, and I believe in what I do can impact the community positively. However, the failure to secure the scholarship has made my steps harder. I am now standing at a crossroad at the risk of discontinuing my education.

Despite working alongside my studies and continue to be minimalist in the past year (I spent about £20,000 last year included everything), I am still not having enough funds with raising international tuition fees (£15,240 this year). I am at risk of having to discontinue my studies and losing my student visa.

The cost is to cover my insufficiency to my tuition fee (£15240), after GoFundMe platform charge 2.9% + £0.25 per donation. My food, rent, and transport would be on me as I will continue to work alongside my studies, with limited working hours allowed on my visa.

Any donation, no matter the size, will help me stay in school and achieve the dream I have worked so hard for. Attached are the meaningful modules I will be taking in this academic year with your kindness.

Thank you all for your help and kindness, wishing each of you the best. :)
