Hi! I’m Anabella Silva-Mynett, formerly Anabella Silva Rojas. I’ve lived in the UK for more than 11 years and I am a teacher. My mother and aunt live in Venezuela, where I was born. They live in the south of the city of Maracay, in an area called 'Mata Redonda'. On the 13th October 2020 and for the second time the neighbourhood flooded very badly. This time the water covered doors and nearly all windows, as you can see in the picture. My family had to climb to the roof of the house to keep safe. Thankfully, friends came swimming and could take them to safety. My mother and aunt are 65 and 66 years old, so it was very hard for them to swim in the dirty water and move from roof to roof until they reached a dry place. My family had to wait days until the water came down as there is a crisis in the public services in the country and people don’t receive much support from the government. Unfortunately, after my family got back into their house and started to clear up, it rained a lot more and everything flooded again!
They have lost nearly everything as the river ‘Madre Vieja’- Old Mother, overflowed and it mixed with raw sewage. It is very unsafe for them as they are living in an area that now floods every time it rains hard. There is no sign that they will receive any help from the authorities as they have asked for support for many years. I need to move them to a safer place to live as they don’t have anywhere else to go. They desperately need a place to stay as soon as possible.
At the moment, because of the crisis in the country, it is possible to find basic properties to buy for a relatively low price, for example from $7,000. Please, help me buy them a place where they can move and be safe from the anguish of living in danger. Please donate to this cause here. The money collected will be used to buy them a place to live in Maracay or in a nearby city called Valencia. Any contribution can help and every penny counts. Gracias a Dios, unos amigos vinieron nadando y las ayudaron a llegar a un lugar seguro. Mi madre y mi tía tienen 65 y 66 años, por lo tanto, fue muy difícil para ellas nadar en el agua sucia y moverse de techo en techo hasta que alcanzaron un lugar seco. Mi familia tuvo que esperar días hasta que las aguas bajaran ya que hay una crisis en los servicios públicos en el país y la gente no recibe mucho apoyo del gobierno. Desafortunadamente, después de que mi familia regresó a la casa y empezó a limpiar llovió mucho más y ¡todo se inundó de nuevo! Ellas han perdido casi todo, ya que el río ‘Madre Vieja’ se desbordó y se mezcló con las aguas negras de la zona. Es un lugar muy inseguro para ellas, ya que están viviendo en un área que ahora se inunda cada vez que llueve mucho. No hay señales de que van a recibir ayuda de las autoridades, ya que han pedido apoyo por muchos años. Necesito mudarlas a un lugar seguro para vivir ya que no tienen dónde ir. Necesitan desesperadamente un lugar seguro para vivir lo más pronto posible.
En estos momentos, debido a la crisis en Venezuela es posible conseguir propiedades básicas por precios relativamente bajos, por ejemplo, desde 7.000 $. Por favor ayúdenme a comprarles un lugar donde se puedan mudar y estar a salvo de la angustia de vivir en peligro. Por favor donen dinero a esta causa aquí. El dinero recaudado va a ser usado para comprarles un lugar para vivir en Maracay o en una ciudad cercana llamada Valencia. Cualquier contribución puede ayudar ya que cada centavo cuenta.
