Help me to pay my grandmother's funeral expenses

As difficult as it is to tell you this story, here it goes: my grandmother died today, February 4, 2022. She died at home, peacefully and without suffering.

My grandmother was already very sick, and my mother and I took care of her until the end. With the help of a geriatrician, we gave her the best care we could. Today, on the day of her death, and since only my mother and I are the closest family, we had to call a funeral home. Until, despite the kindness and affection of Mr. Nuno Gomes, the agent, we realized that the total amount was going to be 1800€. Something we won't be able to afford.

We contacted the social workers to activate the services of Santa Casa da Mesericordia, and in addition to having to go there alone, leaving my grandmother's dead body alone - taking into account that my mother was not present, as I was undergoing chemotherapy treatments - I would have to wait all day, if not tomorrow, for my grandmother's body to be picked up.

For the years she has lived (93), and for the dignity and respect I owe her, I chose to use the funeral home services. But at the moment, we are unable to pay them. We have until the end of February to do so.

So I come here to ask for your help to pay this expense. Every cent, euro counts and already relieves us of the final expense. Social Security won't make a partial refund for many months. Please! I ASK FOR YOUR HELP to give this last dignified moment to my grandmother!

Por mais difícil que seja contar esta história, aqui vai: minha avó morreu hoje, 4 de fevereiro de 2022. Ela morreu em casa, tranquila e sem sofrimento.

A minha avó já estava muito doente, e a minha mãe e eu cuidamos dela até o fim. Com a ajuda de uma geriatra, demos-lhe o melhor cuidado que podíamos. Hoje, no dia da sua morte, e como só eu e a minha mãe somos a família mais próxima, tivemos de chamar uma funerária. Até que, e apesar da gentileza e carinho do Sr. Nuno Gomes, o agente, percebemos que o valor total seria de 1800€. Algo que não poderemos pagar.

Entramos em contato com as assistentes sociais para acionar os serviços da Santa Casa da Mesericordia, e além de ter que ir sozinha, deixando o cadáver da minha avó sozinho - tendo em conta que minha mãe não estava presente, pois eu estava em tratamento de quimioterapia - eu teria que esperar o dia todo, se não até amanhã, para que o corpo de minha avó fosse levantado.

Pelos anos de vida (93) e pela dignidade e respeito que lhe devo, optei por utilizar os serviços da funerária. Mas, de momento, não podemos pagá-los. Temos até o final de fevereiro para isso.

 

Então venho aqui pedir a vossa ajuda para pagar esta despesa. Cada cêntimo, euro conta e já nos alivia da despesa final. A Segurança Social não fará um reembolso parcial durante muitos meses. Por favor! PEÇO A VOSSA AJUDA para dar este último momento digno à minha avó!
