Help me train with Bruce Lee’s best friend
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Roshan Bains. I am a 17-year-old martial artist from Berkshire, England. I’ve been training since the age of 7 years, in Japanese Jujitsu, as well as in Kickboxing and Filipino Martial arts.
I’m in love with martial arts and live and breathe it. One day I hope to have a career in martial arts. If you love something and are good at it, then why not? Inspire and be inspired!
I’ve been working my very hardest to get to train with the best instructors from around the world, and one dream which I wish to fulfil is to train at the world-famous Inosanto Academy in California, led by the legendary martial artist, Guro Dan Inosanto. That's him, painted on the wall behind me.
Guro Dan, now 86, was a dear friend and student of Bruce Lee. He starred alongside him in the film ‘Game of Death’. Remember the guy with the red headband and nunchucks who fought Bruce? Yep, that was Guro Dan!
He is an icon, a star, a legend, a great, great man and martial artist, with an aura like nobody else. Back in 2020, I was lucky enough to train in Rome, (just before Covid knocked the world) and had the honour of training under Guro Dan for two days, and of course, it left me wanting more.
It's been my dream to train at the Inosanto Academy in LA, under Guro Dan and the other amazing instructors. Your kindness in donating will allow me to do that.
I have set up this GoFund Me to help my family afford for me to travel from England to America, and also help with accommodation and equipment costs. I would like to spend 2 weeks there this August and learn as much as I can under Guro Dan.
I am asking my friends and family around the world if you would be kind enough to help me raise this money. Any amount you can donate will be hugely appreciated and I promise I will work super hard and make you all proud. Martial arts has already changed my life for the better, and this experience will be truly life-changing for me.
If it wasn’t for Bruce Lee, none of us would be doing what we do and love. He paved the way for people of all backgrounds to dream big and achieve their goals, and therefore, as part of this martial arts journey, I would like to pay homage to Sijo Bruce Lee, and visit his final resting place, in Seattle.
