Hello, my name is Esmeralda (28). In 2019 I was diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer at a very young age. I got heavy treatments. A 13-hour surgery (it was spread to my ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, appendix, fat apron, gall bladder, liver capsule, piece of colon and some lymph nodes) and chemotherapy where I lost all my hair. My world was turned upside down. One minute I was a 26-year-old girl enjoying her life in the big city of Amsterdam and the next moment I was fighting very hard for my life. Really really hard.

 

After my treatments, it seemed to be going in the right direction. My body slowly recovered, I was able to resume my studies and work and I was able to slowly start to live again instead of constantly surviving.

 

Unfortunately, last March I was told that the cancer has returned. This time the doctors can no longer offer me treatments that will cure me, but only prolong it a little. That is of course very heavy to hear at such a moment. But I have also learned in recent years that there are plenty of other options to be able to heal. At the moment I am in a holistic treatment trajectory in which I am treated both by the doctors from the hospital and by practitioners of natural treatments here in the Netherlands and Madrid. Again an intensive process.

 

I have now changed my whole lifestyle and everything is focused on curing me from the cancer and creating awareness about cancer in young women. It is not a quick fix and it has many ups and downs. But we do see that it works! Since I also started with the natural treatments, we see my tumor marker decrease. And I hope that in a while I can say that I am really cured.

 

But money is needed for this. Due to the illness I am no longer able to work. The treatments for healing sometimes cost a thousands euros per week, because they are not reimbursed by the insurance. You read that right. Being sick is simply very expensive. As a freelancer, I am very unlucky that I cannot be financially supported by the government. 

 

That's why I set up this crowdfunding. In the coming period, I want to do everything I can to continue my treatments in the Netherlands and Spain and I really need your help with that. Every little bit helps. I would like to ask you to support me financially and to share this crowdfunding with as many people as possible. I would really like to give you updates on how I'm doing if there are people interested in that.

Hallo, mijn naam is Esmeralda (28). In 2019 kreeg ik de diagnose eierstokkanker in een vergevorderd stadium. Een operatie van 13 uur (het was uitgezaaid naar mijn eierstokken, eileiders, baarmoeder, appendix, vetschort, galblaas, leverkapsel, stukje dikke darm en enkele lymfeklieren) en chemotherapie waarbij ik al mijn haar verloor. Mijn wereld stond op zijn kop. Het ene moment was ik een 26-jarig meisje die genoot van haar leven in de grote stad Amsterdam en het volgende moment moest ik heel hard vechten voor mijn leven. Echt heel hard.

 

Na mijn behandelingen leek het de goede kant op te gaan. Mijn lichaam herstelde langzaam, ik kon mijn studie en mijn werk weer oppakken en ik wilde ook vooral weer gaan leven in plaats van overleven.

 

Helaas kreeg ik afgelopen maart te horen dat de kanker is teruggekomen. Dit keer kunnen de artsen mij geen behandelingen meer aanbieden die mij zullen genezen, maar alleen een beetje kunnen verlengen. Dat is natuurlijk heel heftig om te horen op zo'n moment. Maar ik heb de afgelopen jaren ook geleerd dat er genoeg andere opties zijn om wel te kunnen genezen. Op dit moment zit ik in een holistisch behandeltraject waarbij ik zowel behandeld word door de artsen uit het ziekenhuis als door behandelaars van natuurlijke behandelingen hier in Nederland en Madrid. Wederom een intensief traject.

 

Inmiddels heb ik mijn hele leven omgegooid en staat alles in het teken van genezen van de kanker en het creëeren van awareness over kanker bij jonge vrouwen. Het is geen quick fix met veel ups en downs. Maar we zien wel dat het werkt! Sinds ik ook begonnen ben met de natuurlijke behandelingen zien wij mijn tumor marker dalen. En ik hoop zo dat ik over een tijdje kan zeggen dat ik echt genezen ben.

 

Alleen is hier wel geld voor nodig. Door de ziekte ben ik niet meer in staat om full-time te werken en mijn spaarpot is inmiddels leeg. De behandelingen en zorgkosten zijn soms duizend euro per week, omdat deze niet vergoed worden door de verzekering. Dat lees je goed. Ziek zijn is nu eenmaal heel erg duur. Ik heb als freelancer dikke pech dat ik niet financieel gesteund kan worden door de overheid. En met mijn situatie blijk ik overal tussen wal en schip te belanden wat financiële hulp betreft.

 

Daarom heb ik deze crowdfunding opgezet. De komende periode wil ik alles op alles zetten om mijn behandelingen in Nederland en Spanje te kunnen voortzetten en daar heb ik echt jullie hulp bij nodig. Ik wil jullie vragen om mij financieel te steunen en deze crowdfunding te delen met zoveel mogelijk mensen. En bij veel animo wil ik jullie heel erg graag updates geven over hoe het met mij gaat.

Hola, mi nombre es Esmeralda (28). En 2019 me diagnosticaron cáncer de ovario en estadio avanzado. Recibí tratamientos intensos de una cirugía y quimioterapia de 13 horas (se había extendido a mis ovarios, trompas de Falopio, útero, apéndice, delantal graso, vesícula biliar, cápsula hepática, pedazo de colon y algunos ganglios linfáticos) donde perdí todo mi cabello. Mi mundo se puso patas arriba. En muy poco tiempo pasé a ser una chica de 26 años que disfrutaba mucho de su vida en la gran ciudad de Ámsterdam a una que luchaba muy duro por su vida. Realmente muy duro.

 

Después de mis tratamientos, parecía ir en la dirección correcta. Mi cuerpo se recuperó lentamente, pude retomar mis estudios y trabajo y también quería empezar a vivir de nuevo, * en lugar de simplemente sobrevivir *.

 

Desafortunadamente, en marzo pasado me dijeron que el cáncer había regresado. Esta vez los médicos ya no pueden ofrecerme tratamientos que me curen, sino solo prolongarlo un poco. Eso, por supuesto, es muy demoledor de escuchar en un momento así. Pero también he aprendido en los últimos años que hay muchas otras opciones para poder curarme. Actualmente me encuentro en una trayectoria de tratamiento holístico en la que me tratan tanto los médicos del hospital como los practicantes de tratamientos naturales aquí en Holanda y en Madrid. De nuevo, un proceso muy intensivo.

 

Ahora he cambiado todo mi estilo de vida y todo se centra en curarme del cáncer y crear conciencia sobre el cáncer en las mujeres jóvenes. No es una solución rápida y tiene muchos altibajos. ¡Pero vemos que funciona! Desde que también comencé con los tratamientos naturales, vemos disminuir mi marcador tumoral. Y espero que dentro de un tiempo pueda decir que estoy realmente curada.

 

Pero se necesita dinero para esto. Debido a la enfermedad ya no puedo trabajar a tiempo completo y mi hucha ahora está vacía. Los tratamientos de curación cuestan en ocasiones mil euros semanales, porque no son reembolsados ​​por el seguro. Has leído bien. Estar enfermo es simplemente muy caro. Como trabajador independiente, tengo la mala suerte de que el gobierno no me puede apoyar económicamente. Y con mi situación, parece que estoy en algún lugar entre dos islas en lo que respecta a la ayuda financiera.

 

Por eso configuré este crowdfunding. En el próximo período quiero hacer todo lo posible para continuar mis tratamientos en los Países Bajos y España y realmente necesito tu ayuda con eso.
