HELP ME REPRESENT SCOTLAND IN SOUTH AFRICA

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Hannah Wardell and I’ve been given the opportunity to compete in Sun City, South Africa for Team Scotland in this years Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in October.

It’s always been a dream of mine since I was little to be able to represent my country (and wave a Scotland flag) and I am delighted to have been presented with the chance to do so. However, as I am only 16 years old, it’s proving extremely costly to get me to South Africa due to flights and accommodation etc.

And unfortunately there is no funding available to help cover the costs and so all expenses are being paid for from me and my family’s own pockets.

About me!

My name is Hannah Wardell and I am a powerlifter! I have been doing sports my entire life, and I used to be a swimmer! I am 16 years old and I have been powerlifting since December. In March I competed at British Championships and won a bronze medal, and applied to be considered for Team Scotland in this year’s Commonwealth Championships. To my delight, I have been picked! In the coming year I hope to attend University to study Sports Psychology as I have always wanted to do something which involves the part which the mind plays in sports. I left school this year after sitting my Highers and am currently taking a year out to save money for the costs of University.

I also currently unofficially hold the Scottish Bench Record for my category and am very keen to officially extend it at the Commonwealths.

Throughout my time with lifting weights I have received a lot of support, but also a lot of backlash. I received many nasty comments which I refused to let stop me. In my competitions and many photos from them you can see I wear pink bows on my headphones and in my hair.

I am informally known as ‘The girl with the pink bows’! My bows symbolise femininity in a male dominated and often stigmatised sport. It shows that regardless of the sport I do, I am just as feminine as everyone else. I am very keen to spread this message as far and wide as I can!

‘STRONG IS FEMININE!!’

Why do I need your help?

Since I am only 16 it is very difficult for me to come up with the money in order to pay for flights and accommodation during the Championships, and prices are ever rising. This opportunity is an absolute dream come true and it would mean the world to me if any of you could help assist me with the expenses to get to South Africa in October.

Please share this if you are unable to donate!
Any help is much appreciated <3

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!

LETS FIGHT!!!!!
