Help Megan keep her family close
Hi my names Kylie I’m raising money for my sister and our parents. On the 15 of January 2021 my sister Megan had a stroke and is now in the Gold Coast university hospital with paralysis all down one side of her body. She is going to need a lot of rehab to get movement back. Which means a long stint in hospital. We all live Bundaberg which is a good 5 hour drive for my parents to visit. Megan really needs ongoing support from her mum and dad to help her get through this process. Thankfully until now a fantastic charity has been supplying them with free accommodation on the Gold Coast so they can be with Megan.
Unfortunately they need that accommodation for other family members of other sick patients (They only supply it for a limited time)
which we completely understand.
As Megan always says there’s always someone worse off then me.
When Megan was 10 she was diagnosed with type one diabetes. In 2010 she was diagnosed with kidney failure. While on dialysis and not being able to work full time Megan did a
nursing degree and became a registered
nurse. Thankfully in 2012 she was given the gift of life and got a kidney and pancreas transplant. Thankfully this meant she wasn’t diabetic anymore as well as having a good kidney. Unfortunately her pancreas rejected a short time later. She’s now back to being a type 1 diabetic. The day before she had her stroke she was told she would have to go back on dialysis because her transplant kidney is now failing as well.
At this stage because of Megan’s other health conditions we don’t know how long she will be in hospital or if or when they can transfer her back to bundaberg hospital. Which means our parents need accommodation to stay with her and help with her emotional recovery. We are not sure how we will afford to pay the rent here in Bundaberg and other bills as well as accommodation at the Gold Coast to stay with Megan.
If anyone can help it will be more then
appreciated and when Megan gets home we will definitely be paying if forward thanks in advance
From Megan and her Family .
