Help Megan Poole Fight Against a Brain Tumor
Donation protected
Meet Megan, to know her is to love her. My name is Sara and I have been fortunate to call Megan my best friend for 30+ years. She has a heart of gold!
I am creating a GoFundMe for Megan because on Friday, December 22, 2023, Megan went in for an MRI after suffering a massive headache with 10/10 pain in September. Her pain lingered for approximately three weeks ranging in different pain levels when she decided to make an appointment with her doctor who recommended she schedule an MRI as a precaution.
Megan's appointment went fairly quickly and immediately following her MRI she was taken to meet with a neurology radiologist who gave her the news that she has a very large mass in the left frontal lobe of her brain with a midline shift. I was called to pick her up as they would not allow her to drive, and I was directed to take her directly to the emergency room where a neurosurgeon had been briefed and wanted to meet with her on next steps. After running tests and monitoring her for 24 hours it was decided she could be released for the remainder of the holiday weekend. Megan met with her neurosurgeon on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, and will need to have brain surgery on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
The tumor itself is 6.3 cm and from what we are being told has been there for a while and is slow growing, however, it has reached the point in growth where it is affecting Megan's well-being. Following surgery Megan will be in the hospital for approximately 4-5 days and will be off work for six weeks. Once the surgery is complete, we will find out if Megan will also need chemotherapy or radiation.
Although Megan's family and friends have heavy hearts that she is going through all of this, we are all very hopeful for a positive and speedy recovery. She is a fighter and will give this her all. The emotional and financial impact this is going to have will be large.
This is where we invite you to join us in making a difference. We have initiated this GoFundMe campaign to rally around Megan during these tough days. Every penny contributed will go a long way in alleviating the financial burden she’s going to face, allowing her to focus on what truly matters - her health and well-being.
