Friends, I am asking in this tough time for some help for my friend Megan. I met Megan years ago when I worked at PEP Hopewell in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a GREAT friend, Speech-Language Pathologist and Cleveland Monsters Hockey fan! She moved to OKC in June of 2018. Fast forward to Spring 2020, Covid hits the US. She continues to work remotely via telepractice, like all of us, but she was laid off at the beginning of March. Then in April she gets sick. She spends the time between April and now in and out of the hospital sometimes being there for 30 days or more at a time. Based on over 73 tests including a spinal tap, multiple MRIs, CAT scans, 56 blood draws, a liver biopsy, and many more the medical team diagnosed her with everything from gall stones to kidney failure to stage 4 liver failure to Hashimoto's throughout April, May, and June but she didn’t recover as expected. Then Dr. Kershen, a neurologist, reviewed her case with a fine tooth comb. Based on medical history and current ability he discovered a B1 (or thiamine) deficiency was discovered and this deficiency had caused many of the other false diagnosis.
Here’s how you help her. Megan needs funds to pay for moving expenses (paying to pack, move, and store her stuff and car) as well as transportation of her cats to a friend in Texas that will foster them until she gets out of the physical therapy rehab facility. In addition, she needs funds to cover future moving expenses. Going from 40 hours paid job to currently waiting on disability approval isn't leaving much or anything in her bank account. If we can get those expenses covered and have a little leftover for others that arise along the way, it will ease her mind and help her focus on her recovery.
