Help Former K9 Trainer W/Sp. Cord Injury

Donation protected

Melanie Lamb (formerly known as Mel Helmick- Arkansas own dog whisperer) went in for a procedure in October of 09 and her life was changed forever. This procedure is called a lumbar puncture and is routinely performed thousands of times a day. Melanie used to train K9's and their handlers in not only obedience, but explosives, narcotics, search and rescue, service dogs for the disabled, problem solving. She has written a book called Standing with the Dog K9 Psychology in a Nutshell. She has given much of her talent away in order to help those who could not afford the services that they needed. She has raised three wonderful boys who are heartbroken by what has happened to their mother. Melanie She was not sedated in the least when this happened to her. The needle ripped through the sac and the spinal nerves leaving her in torturous pain every single day, crippling her. She was diagnosed with what is called Adhesive Arachnoiditis and CRPS type 2- causalgia. I ask of you to look at the McGill pain scale. The pain she endures is at the top of the scale. Her L spine of the dural sac has been completely detached from the bone wall vertabra. All of the nerves are now clumped and adhered to the sac that contains the spinal cord. It is a miracle she can even move at all. She has uncontrollable spasms that cause her muscles to peel away from the bone. Her feet peel so many layers of skin until they literally bleed. She burns and feels as if she is on fire 24-7. The spinal fluid should normally be absorbed through these nerves to nourish her organs and muscles, but it can't penetrate through the scar tissue to do so. Therefore, her body is starving. She fights against critical levels of deficiencies and in March of this year She can no longer swallow when lying flat and is losing her hair. She has to sleep elevated in case she throws up in her sleep to prevent her from drowning in her sleep. She suffers from Intracranial Hypertension (Pseudo Tumor Cerebri) as the scar tissue does not allow for proper fluid flow. This causes fluid to put pressure on her brain and her optic nerves have been scarred to the degree she no longer has any peripheral vision. This is progressive, and what lies before her, we will only know once that bridge is here. We will not let her cross it alone, and we hope you can find it in your heart to help us help her as well. Melanie has spent her life giving and helping others, and she still tries in ways she can to help others overcome fears and obstacles they face in any way she is capable of. She has also become an advocate for those with Arachnoiditis and RSD/CRPS. She participated in a Dr. Oz show; we will post that video, as well as other videos and pictures of her on here so you can see what she endures. She finds way to smile through her pain to shelter others from feeling helpless because she knows there is nothing that can be done. There is no cure for what she has. Her life span has been affected by this and we want to help her be comfortable for as long as we have with her. We pray she can beat this, but we also know the reality. There is no way possible she can get to hydrotherapy three times a week, yet, she so desparately needs this. We want to bring it to her, and we hope that you can find it in your heart to help us help her, by having a therapeutic water well put in her home for her. We would like to shoot for the 17 inch Therapeutic Spa to allow her room to be able to actually swim and still be able to use the treadmill, and have room to sit by the jets afterwards. Thank you, and may God bless you and yours.
