Help Melanie After Breast Cancer Treatment
Donation protected

Over the last year I’ve been fighting Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER/PR+ Breast Cancer. I am thankful that my surgeries to remove a 7cm tumour, rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation treatments have increased my survival. I have the staff, doctors, nurses, and techs to thank at the Cross Cancer.
Sadly, being off work for almost 2 years has put my family in a lot of debt. I am no longer able to work the same hours as I used to due to my neuropathy, chronic fatigue, and post-chemo reduced cognitive function; I am limited to weekly part time hours. I managed to find a suitable job 6 months after treatment - and I am truly thankful for this blessing. I know how hard it is to find employment these days.
I give back to my community as a volunteer. Girl Guides of Canada and Dogs with Wings are two of my favourite non-profit organizations.
To make ends meet, my husband works full time hours, we have sold possessions and our car, and combined households with my extended family.
After combining households, we needed to complete many renovations to better suit our family but many were put off when I was in treatment. We still do not have a kitchen after almost 2 years, the bathroom is partially demoed and we have no bedroom walls. To make matters worse, just had a flood during the extreme thaw, meaning more delays in getting back to normal. I need help.
I am humbly asking for financial assistance to pay off a substantial bank loan; basically my loss of income for the past year, and it is my dream to finally finish our kitchen and bathroom.
Thank you for your interest and your time in reading our story and considering a donation. I know this past few years has been tough on everyone.
