Help Melissa Stay Afloat After Her Brother Murdered Her Mom
Donation protected
We are Tracy and Stefania, long-time friends of Melissa and Ken in NYC. They have recently faced an unimaginable tragedy, so we are joining forces to help them in this difficult time.
On the evening of October 9th, Melissa’s half-brother Jonathan murdered her mother Regina McIntyre in her home. The night after the murder appeared on local news, Regina’s house was burglarized and all valuables were stolen. Read more in a local news article here or watch a tv segment from KHOU 11 here.
Melissa & her long-time partner Ken flew down to Texas immediately and have faced insurmountable expenses, maxing out credit cards in the last month, spending thousands for crime scene biohazard clean-up, travel for funerals in Texas and Regina’s burial in her homeland Brazil.
Because of the legal complexity of a situation like this, it will be necessary to hire a specialist probate lawyer, not to mention weeks of hotel costs and the lost wages of not being able to work since this terrible tragedy occurred.
Melissa has been seeking help for Jonathan’s struggles with addiction and mental health for years. People have been extremely generous with support already. We are calling on our networks to support Melissa and Ken by raising $40,000 so they can survive and stay afloat as they grieve this terrible loss and continue to face the unexpected costs for months to come. At least $5,000 is needed urgently to begin the legal process with probate and reduce future expenses.
Thank you for reading Melissa & Ken’s story and for your kindness and generosity.
