Those of you who are fortunate to know Melissa Stucky know that her smile lights up the room and her positive energy is contagious! She is a kind and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, co-worker, and friend. Her courage, strength, and perseverance are inspiring to all those around her. She has positively impacted so many lives and now it is time for us to come together to support her in yet another battle against cancer!
The Back Story: In December 2018, at the age of 34, Melissa was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She received chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, and had multiple surgeries. All the while, trying to live life and care for her beautiful two-year-old daughter, with her husband Matt. In early 2019, Melissa had a mastectomy and was declared cancer free that June.
When you are diagnosed and undergoing cancer treatment, you lose all sense of normalcy and all sense of control. Once Melissa was cancer free, she tenaciously took back control and became an inspiring advocate for health and fitness. During the day, Melissa works as a school speech & language pathologist, helping children and their families. Outside of work, Melissa is not only a dedicated wife and mother, but also a fitness coach.
She did all the “right” things…eating well, sleeping well, exercising, going to doctor appointments and health screenings, and managing her stress. And yet, life is unfair and CANCER SUCKS!
Present Day: Melissa underwent a routine screening with her oncologist in November 2022. All of her bloodwork came back within normal limits and she felt healthy. Then in January 2023, her school district offered a free healthcare screening. At the time, Melissa debated participating, because she had just been given a clean bill of health by her oncologist. However, something called her to do the screening. When she received her results, her liver enzymes were elevated and shortly after she began experiencing intense pain in her side.
Within weeks of the health screening, Melissa was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast cancer. The same type of cancer she had tirelessly battled and defeated has now spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Due to the aggressive nature of this type of cancer, Melissa will now be undergoing chemotherapy indefinitely to prevent it from growing and spreading.
Melissa has a heart for helping and supporting others, and now she and her family need our help and support. Your generous donations will help with the following expenses:
- Medical expenses
- Treatment not covered by insurance
- Travel expenses to the cancer center and hospitals
- Loss of income due to Melissa and Matt being off work
- Medications
- Counseling for their family
- Family experiences when Melissa is well enough to travel.
Thank you for your donations, prayers, well wishes, support, and positive thoughts as we join together to support Melissa and her family!
