Help Melissa Moffitt fight Leukemia
Donation protected
Melissa was diagnosed in May with Leukemia - AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) after experiencing a persistent sore throat. Melissa is the daughter of our awesome workmate, Brad Moffitt.
This is a severe and very rare disease, especially for a 39-year-old. She started chemo within 24 hours of being told of her diagnosis which meant 30 days in the hospital for her intensive treatment which made her extremely unwell.
With limited visitation allowed for the entire time, it was incredibly difficult for Mel not to have contact with her partner LeeAnne and their 3 children, a 10-year-old son, and four-year-old twins. As you can imagine, they are a very busy family between school, daycare, and managing a household.
Mel has just finished her 2nd round of chemo and has her 3rd round planned for this week. Whilst the treatment makes her very sick she is unwavering in her bravery, always putting on a smile to assure her family she is okay, she can still crack jokes, even about cancer! (See the above photo of Mel and Brad!)
Mel's diagnosis has meant that they are all in a very tough situation and we are fundraising to help Mel with costs incurred for medication, treatment, doctors' appointments, and loss of income. It is not known when Mel will be able to return to work and her paid leave finishes in early August.
The whole Moffitt family would like to thank those that have already reached out to offer their support, particularly Brad's workplace and the team from Trek. It has made an unimaginable situation just that little bit easier for them to handle, thank you.
Any donation to help Mel and the Moffitt family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
