Help Melissa Normant's Fight Stage 4 Colon Cancer
Donation protected
I'm writing this entry about my wonderful sister, Melissa Normant. She is a 43-year old single mom who has worked hard to care for her daughter, and many of you recognize her from Walmart. She has been employed there for over 16 years. She graduated Gilmer County High School in 2000. She always has a smile on her face and loves greeting people. She can be kooky and fun, but also, people should know that she is a wonderful sister, daughter, and mother as well.
She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer (a tumor large enough to block almost completely), and it has progressed and spread to her liver and lymph nodes. She has surgery for a colostomy bag and chemo port on Thursday, March 27th. Originally, she was to have surgery to remove the tumor, but now since it has spread, her doctors and medical team are changing to further/prolong her life. We don't know where to go from here but are praying for more time and a miracle.
We would love for her to not have to stress about medical bills and her copay for all of the procedures. Chemo will start early April. We pray and hope she will do great and be able to go back to work—to greeting those of you who know her smile! I'm doing this to help with her percentage of medical bills (chemo is expensive!) and gas to and from all of the visits. We want her to not have to stress about the bills and look forward to seeing her baby girl graduate high school this May!!!
It's odd how she was diagnosed with rectal cancer in March, which is colon cancer awareness month—things happen like that sometimes... So please, feel free to donate to this campaign. We all need a little help every now and then. Let's help ease some of the stress off of my big sister, Melissa!--and let her spend this precious time with her daugher, Serenity. Thank you. We plan on doing a fundraiser in person, but its difficult to get one together.. so keep on the look out.
