Help Melissa Secure Legal Support for Her Family
Donation protected

Hello. My name is Melissa. I am a single mom of 2 young men. My youngest, Ethan, has Down syndrome. He is 19 years old. My now ex-husband walked out on us and asked for a divorce after being married for 24 years. I was awarded 8 years of spousal support. One year after our divorce and paying a year of support, he remarried and has now taken me to court to reduce my support. I can't get into too many particulars due to it now going to a full-blown trial. I make too much to use Legal Aid, and the amount I get per month will not even put a down payment on a lawyer. I am a full-time caregiver for my mom, who was diagnosed a second time with breast cancer. I take her to her radiation and all doctor appointments. I am also going to school for EMT and just finished Phlebotomy school.
I know times are rough for so many people and we are all struggling, but I am asking for your help. I need to get a lawyer to help me. He has one and I can't do this alone.
I am looking to raise at least $2400 to pay a lawyer. If I am not able to get a lawyer I do not know what the outcome could be but I do know I could loose some of my spousal support. The money will be for retaining a lawyer and court costs. Thank you so much for reading my story and for those that can possibly help.
