Help Melody Survive Breast Cancer
Keith Burwood McFarland
on behalf of Melody Smith
Cancer is a BEAST!!
As many of you may know, my friend Melody Smith has breast cancer. Currently it is Stage 4. She is going through some pretty aggressive, advanced treatments. Melody could definitely use your support for everything she is facing, from medical bills to rent to going on Cobra, etc. She has missed a TON of work due to recent surgery, treatments, and generally feeling quite fatigued and ill. Her current job is not a salaried one, so financial stresses have been overwhelming.
Melody greatly appreciates all of your kindness, generosity and support!! She has a LONG road ahead of her in kicking Cancer's backside. I have been a friend of Melody's for many years, and I know that her life took a series of horrific blows, including heartbreaking losses on many levels, none of which were her fault, but which left her living paycheck to paycheck without much in the way of backup support for a time. Melody tries to be as kind and supportive as she can to anyone who just needs an ear or a friend. In order to get through this, she desperately needs your help. Melody is going through an awful lot right now, and is frankly terrified about what the future holds. This would be true for any of us even under circumstances where we had ample funds in the bank. At present Melody has none of these things. Please help give her the support she needs to make it through the next chapter of fighting this. Cancer sucks!!
If you can't donate, please share. Thank you!!

UPDATE: Thank you to all of you who have donated so far! I want to express appreciation to you on behalf of Melody and I for your generosity. GoFundMe has asked that I update this section with some pertinent information for the sake of transparency, which I will now do. In short they asked me to let you all know:
Who I am: I am an old friend and coworker of Melody's from when we both worked at Draft Worldwide in Chicago in the late 90s. I am also now acting as her advocate of sorts while dealing with her breast cancer to the degree that I can, including setting up this GoFundMe campaign. I care about her wellbeing very much, and having been through my own serious health issues that left me disabled, I am helping guide her through the circumstances she now finds herself in after several bad turns of luck and now with confronting cancer.
Where I'm from: The Chicagoland Area, specifically the Northwest Suburb of Glenview, Illinois. If you've ever watched a John Hughes movie, I live on Shermer Road and Lake Avenue, the fictional location of Shermer High School in his movies.
My relationship to the party I'm raising funds for: I am an old and dear friend from the days we worked in the Advertising field together.
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): That's covered above. Essentially rent, food, transportation, going on COBRA when her insurance inevitably runs out as she is unable to work full time hours to keep her insurance actuve throughout all her treatmetns, etc.
How I intend to get the funds to her: GoFundMe lists her as the sole beneficiary of the account so only she can withdraw funds.
Hopefully this satisfies the requirements that GoFundMe has asked for. Thank you again for your contributions so far. Melody has asked me to express her deepest gratitude and thanks and I have sent thank you messages to those of you who have kindly donated. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
