Help Melvin fight Cancer.

Hi my name is Gloria and I am fundraising for my husband.

Melvin is my 44 year old husband of 19 years and father to our beautiful 13 yr old girl. He is a very well loved person. He is very kind and generous.

Around October 2021 Mel was having pain in his abdomen and back. Since he does suffer from developing kidney stones. We made an appointment to see a urologist. The Dr. performed scans, mri, and labs. Sure enough, he had very large stones and a cyst. The urologist suggested surgery. As were prepping for that some other symptoms came up and the urologist felt he needed to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. Mel was able to get a colonoscopy days before kidney stone surgery. On February 1, 2022 we received the news that changed things for him. I was left shaken by the words that came out of the doctor’s mouth. “You have cancer ”.  In that brief moment I tried to be strong and not break down. I looked at my husband and I just couldn’t bear the thought of not having him around. My husband had ignored some signs not ever thinking it could be this serious. He wasn’t at the age for a check up or had any family history. Melvin had a very large tumor in his colon that would need biopsy. The biobsy came back positive for colorectal cancer. He was then referred to a surgeon who performed a second biopsy that confirmed it was cancer. He has gone through many more scans, mri’s and labs. Melvin will require at least 6 months of chemotherapy and radiation. Once Mel is done with chemotherapy his surgeon will perform surgery on the tumor. This will require more unpaid time off from work . We definitely want to stay ahead of any further cancer spread. With your prayers and support I know we can accomplish this.

My goal as his wife is to be there every step of the way. The burden is emotional, physical and financial. Our out of pocket expenses and co-pays are overwhelming our finances and have depleted our savings. I am asking for your financial support for medical bills, co-pays, travel and living expenses. Your generosity will allow him to concentrate on healing. I know my husband is a warrior. I am scared and so is our daughter. Together we will be strong for him. We believe the almighty has a purpose. We are trusting the process.
