Help Mercy Rock fight cancer

I am Sandie Tarquinio and Mercy Rock is my mom. The past month has dealt our family several painful blows, but none as big as my mom being diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. She has a malignant tumor in her esophageal junction that has spread through the esophageal wall.
Because of my moms health, her cancer was located and pinpointed earlier than most people with the same prognosis. Typically this cancer is so confused with other symptoms (acid reflux, gastritis, etc) that it is not diagnosed until it has spread further throughout the body. In my moms case, she became very ill out of nowhere. She can't eat and on some days, can't drink.
My mom has never smoked, is a lifelong vegetarian, eats organic, runs marathons and is literally the picture of physical health. I guess cancer spares nobody. In one month her medical bills have surpassed the total amount of doctors bills that she has had her whole life.
As we embark on the journey of starting chemo and radiation tomorrow (11/23), and then surgery, my parents are reeling from the sudden deaths of BOTH of our family dogs who died within three weeks of each other. When it rains, it pours. Both were sick but I believe were hiding it well to support my mom until they just couldn't anymore.
I am coordinating this fundraiser to alleviate the financial and emotional stress that cancer has put on my family. My mom needs to go into her fight without anxiety so she can come out stronger on the other side. All funds will go to medical bills and should there be any excess, to a non profit cancer research of my mom's choice.
Like all cancer patients, it doesn't seem fair that it would target the kindest, most beautiful soul. Every friend of myself, my sister, and my brother that has met my mom, has fallen in love with her and considers her a second mom. Everything she does-- every gift, every note, every action, is thoughtful and heartfelt. She has quite literally given her last dollar to help someone else. She is the most liked introvert I have ever met! So now it is our turn. Anyone that has asked how they can help, this is how.
If you would like to follow along with her journey, let me know. My dad sends a weekly email to a distribution list of friends and family that have asked to be in loop.
Love,
Sandie
