Help Michael and Sox
Donation protected
On Friday, January 14th Michael had just finished traveling across the country with Sox to work for several weeks in rural Texas to save money for their upcoming Alaskan road trip this summer. During his first skydive at the new location Michael had a hard landing and suffered severe injuries. Fortunately he remained conscious and was able to have medical attention very quickly. The first trip to the hospital revealed a grade 2 separation of his clavicle and a break of the radial head in his left elbow. He was discharged without the hospital doing several tests that are standard in high energy impact accidents. Michael’s mother flew to Texas and brought him back to Arizona and immediately returned to another emergency room. This time many X-rays were taken, 2 ct scans, several blood tests, and the results were more concerning. Michael has compression fractures in several vertebrae. There are also a couple non displaced fractures in his left transverse process, and the left superior articulated process of his L5 vertebrae. Additionally, first first rib of his rib cage was badly broken but thankfully non displaced. At this time, Michael’s new health insurance policy isn’t set to provide coverage until February 1st so the first two ER visits and litany of testing is all out of pocket expenses. He hasn’t received any information on when/if he can return to work skydiving so he won’t have any income for the foreseeable future.
I know, like myself, seeing the bond between Michael and Sox, brings a smile to your face. I was lucky enough to experience this bond first hand and it’s a beautiful thing. Right now not only do they need each other, they also need us. Please consider donating and/or sharing this with others so we can help Michael cover medical expenses and help care for Sox.
I will update as much as possible and check @the_bike_dog pages for updates too. Thank you!
