You might be his Facebook pal, call him Mr. Mayor, met him at a blues festival, know him as a hospital commissioner, painted next to him at an art class, or perhaps he was your teacher at Ocosta, but Michael Bruce has touched many lives with kindness and served his community with generosity through the years. He started being a community volunteer in high school in 1970. On July 19, 2004 at the request of the Honorable Derek Kilmer, Member of Congress a flag was flown, and presented, in the honor of Michael Bruce’s many years of public service and community leadership. He was Mayor of Westport from 2004 to 2015 and Chairman of the Grays Harbor Council of Governments 4 years. He served on the board of Grays Harbor Transit as well.
Now, he is in need of our help, will you please answer the call?
We are seeking funds to supply Michael with two important things to continue his active lifestyle while struggling with renal failure dialysis treatment. The kidney provides support to many areas of the body. With the added stress of kidney disease and his weakened condition because of polio, his ability to stand for any length or walk long distances as been reduced greatly. A mobility van is needed because the renal failure and polio has put Michael in the position where his legs will never be the same. With the costs of kidney treatment and care, he needs our help in raising funds to purchase a mobility van for his use. Michael can no longer bend over and lift an electric wheelchair into his current vehicle and he really needs the adapted vehicle. Additionally, due to local power outages, he is also in need of a generator and the automatic relay so it will just start when the lights go out and continue to power his home dialysis machine. This is why we have begun this GoFundMe as well as the organization of the fundraising event on February 1st 2025 at The North Cove Grill, 4pm to 7pm. You can donate on this page, mail a donation to Michael Bruce PO Box 1644 Westport, WA 98595 or attend the event in February and donate in person, but our hope is that you will find it in your hearts to help.
