Help Michael Sabol Recover

Donation protected
Michael Sabol and I met on 2 July 1992, assigned to the same company at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. A few days into Plebe Summer, I was moved into his room, because he was experienced -- having gone thru Naval Academy Preparatory School -- and my initial roommates and I were a qualified disaster. Pre-Reveille on our first morning, Mike taught me a valuable lesson with a slipper thrown to the back of the head: Don't prepare for the impossible before Reveille. That's our best friend Michael . . .

For the succeeding four years, Michael and I were a team and watched each other's back, thru thick and thin, liberty and lockdown, good times and bad, exams and academic boards, training cruises and service selections. Born in Vietnam, the son of an inaugural class Army Special Forces Master Sergeant, Michael commissioned into the Army as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry upon graduation from Annapolis. He's been our best friend and confidant for nearly 30 years, thru peacetime and war, deployments and reunions. He's a Veteran of pre-9/11 small wars, and a man who has stood in the breach for us more times than we can count.

Now, Michael and his family need our help. In the first week of September Michael was hospitalized with COVID, which quickly required sedation, intubation, ventilation & paralytic medication. Over nearly 6 weeks and a compounding, acute bacterial infection, Michael came off the vent about a couple weeks ago, but has been struggling in rehabilitation. We need help ensuring that he, his wife and their two awesome kids are able to focus on his recovery without concern for mounting co-pays and dwindling benefits.

On Michael's behalf, I'm asking for you to contribute any amount with which you feel comfortable. We love Michael and his family, and pray you will consider joining us in supporting his family. Every amount counts, even if only a dollar.
